Daily NaNo check-in: came up a little short today (though by only 3 words–personal goal is 2k per day) so I can easily make that up tomorrow.
The boys just tested out their new tag-team strategy for apprehending wanted criminals: Kid pilfers their weapons without anyone realizing it, and Lionheart proceeds to annoy the heck out of criminals until they go for the guns and suddenly realize they’re not there…

Also, in case there was any doubt as to who inspired my main character–
Lionheart still carried an old edition
of Hamlet—one of the very few
possessions he had taken with him the night he ran away from home.
Daily NaNo check-in: we’ve reached chapter 4, and are in the process of unlocking Lionheart’s tragic backstory.
And through flashback, his father gets his establishing character moment–
“Obey me, Leon! Obey!
…Or do you need to spend more time in
the trunk until you’ve remembered how!?”
The bolt of fear striking his heart
then was exactly the same now as he recalled the memory of it. Lionheart caught his breath.
