That moment when @rose-of-pollux points out that Luigi’s Mansion 3 could be one huge homage to the Super Mario Bros Super Show!

Honestly, I would not mind at all if this ends up happening, or at least being an acknowledgment of the show’s 30th anniversary–this was where we first got to see Mario and Luigi being portrayed as Best Bros who support each other.

What better way to have those call-backs/shout-outs than in a spinoff series which is all about Luigi facing his fears to rescue his bro?

Stop STOP you’re blowing my mind here!

It doesn’t surprise me that Nintendo make these obscure references (Nintendo leaves no stone unturned); but as fun as the Super Show was, I don’t think Nintendo would put it up there as their crowning achievement.

Therefore it surprises me that they seem to be dedicating an entire Luigi game filled with major references that relate back to the show. Plus, is the Super Show even a licensed Nintendo product? I mean yeah it stars official Nintendo characters but has Nintendo officially trademarked it?

That I’m not sure of but if Nintendo are going to have fun with this and stick references in to what is to many a childhood show, I have no problems with it!

I admittedly have no idea about the trademarks, but as I understand it, Nintendo did delegate the airing of the show, so I guess they do “own” it?  I dunno.

And of course, I could be reading way too much into it, and it’s really all just a coincidence/me seeing what I want to see in my nostalgia (yep, I was one of those kids who grew up watching it).  Yep, it is a fun show and memetic at times, and things like Luigi dabbing in the Rabbids crossover or his MK8 Death Stare shows that Nintendo does acknowledge how popular memes can get, so it’s definitely still “Is it…?” territory right now.

But if I’m right and it is a deliberate set of call-backs, then I will absolutely be over the (dark) moon!
