Trainer’s Log: Entry 131

So… things happened.  Yesterday, I got Summer!Raichu, and finally added Salamence and the last Alola ‘mon I needed, Sandshrew/Sandslash, to the ‘dex.  And after like 9 raids yesterday, finally got a shiny Articuno–my first shiny legendary ever.

And today, Community Day was a success–I got two shiny sunglasses Squirtles, one of which (the one I evolved) was found literally at a Pokéstop that is a turtle sculpture–and since sunglasses shinies were shiny for everyone, pretty much everyone stopped to take an AR pic of it because the irony was too good.  And since he’s literally wearing the same kind of shades that Robert wore as Stockwell (which were 99.9% his personal shades, since I’ve seen pics of him wear those elsewhere), I named him Stockwell (to go with the Shiny Venusaur I named after Ivan Trigorin).

I got 13 shiny turtles overall–the two sunglasses ones, and 11 normal.  Unfortunately, aside from one of the 11 that was only 10 CP, the other 10 have horrible stats.  Still, I suppose they’ll be good trade fodder for those who missed today…

Trainer’s Log: Entry 130

So… today was… interesting.  I spent the morning looking for shiny Roselia and coming up empty.  And then, while trying to revive a fainted ‘mon, I accidentally activated my last Lucky Egg and had to do an unexpected evolve session, among them being the Alolan Vulpix I got from @ksturf and the Alolan Grimer I got from one of my old squad in my hometown–only Alolan egg ‘mon I’m missing is Sandshrew.

And then, hours later, when I was opening the app just to get a Pokéstop, I randomly selected a Roselia and… found a shiny!  So I won’t have to go shiny hunting tomorrow, which is great, because it’s supposed to get 106F/41C tomorrow, so, yeaaaah… staying inside.  I have some catch-based research tasks that I can do from the spawn points in my apartment to continue contributing to the global challenge, so there’s that…

Trainer’s Log: Entry 129

My first attempt at a Regice raid was successful!  I got this just before the friends feature rolled out, which I have been enjoying immensely–basically added all of the old crowd from my hometown that I had to leave behind when I moved back in February, and I guess I’ll be adding some local trainers here during the next Community Day, which isn’t that far away.

I caught an Alolan Rattata today, and hatched an Alolan Meowth from the egg I got from @ksturf!

Trainer’s Log: Entry 128

And this month’s Community Day is also a success, even with the Water Festival spawns watering down the Larvitar spawns–managed to get an almost perfect-IV shiny Larvitar who I evolved all the way to Tyranitar to go with the shiny Shellder–now Cloyster– that I found yesterday, out of absolutely nowhere!

So, yes, this year’s Water Festival is definitely more successful than last year’s.  Not only am I rolling in Totodile candy (managed to get 100 candy today–I only caught 2 last year, both on the last day), but I also finally got a shiny Magikarp!  One evolution and many powerups later, I’ve got a shiny Gyarados that I can show off in a gym (with a fitting name to boot)!

Trainer’s Log: Entry 127

So, yes, this year’s Water Festival is definitely more successful than last year’s.  Not only am I rolling in Totodile candy (managed to get 100 candy today–I only caught 2 last year, both on the last day), but I also finally got a shiny Magikarp!  One evolution and many powerups later, I’ve got a shiny Gyarados that I can show off in a gym (with a fitting name to boot)!

Water Festival 2018 has begun and on Day #1 I have a crocodillian friend invading my apartment.

…Why couldn’t this have happened during Water Festival 2017 when I only got my first Totodile on the last day, after walking 68 miles over the course of the entire event…?

Ah well.

Trainer’s Log: Entry 126

Today’s Community Day was also a great success, on more than one front!  I got my shiny black dragon (he’s got great IVs, but was only half CP when I got him, a lot of candy was spent getting him into fighting shape, but, worth it…), I got my first Ho-Oh and Absol (Ho-Oh I missed out on the first time as I was out of the country with no data during the first go-round, and, for Absol, I was never in the right place at the right time for until today), and hatched a Chimeco!
